Edward R. Pasternak, Esq.

Edward R. Pasternak is an associate at Dorsey & Semrau, LLC and has been licensed to practice law in New Jersey since 2001. Before joining Dorsey & Semrau, Mr. Pasternak was a Court Executive with the New Jersey Judiciary, serving as the Assistant Criminal Division Manager for the Hunterdon Criminal Division, Superior Court of New Jersey. In that role, he was the on-site Manager for the Division, served as the Pre-Trial Intervention (PTI) Director and was designated as a Deputy Clerk of the Superior Court. Since joining the firm, Mr. Pasternak has represented local municipalities in varying capacities, including litigation in various forums, including before administrative agencies, the Superior Courts and the Appellate Division.

Mr. Pasternak earned his law degree in 1997 from the Temple University School of Law, and his undergraduate degree in English cum laude from Rutgers University-Camden in 1994. In addition to his current work in Municipal Practice, Mr. Pasternak has significant experience in Administrative Law, Military Law and Criminal Law.

Mr. Pasternak is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a Judge Advocate General with the Air National Guard in New Jersey, Washington, D.C, and overseas. In his deployments over a twenty-year career, he advised military commanders on a myriad of legal issues, including International Law, Trusts and Estates, Civil Law, Military Justice, Environmental Law, Energy Law, and Legal Assistance. He was assigned to the Pentagon on multiple occasions, culminating his military career assigned to the National Guard Bureau Headquarters in Arlington VA, where he served within the Office of Chief Counsel as the Deputy Director of the Legal Support Office. In that role, he performed legal reviews on contested administrative actions from around the country, and was regularly assigned to prosecute (or defend) high-profile administrative discharge cases.

Mr. Pasternak is admitted to practice in the state of New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.
